Karin Worden Jewelry
Karin Worden hand crafts each piece of jewelry in sterling silver and high karat gold. Her process is like that of a painter or sculptor – beginning with inspiration, choosing materials and then letting them have their voice too. More than 25 years of experience in goldsmithing gives Karin the skill and flexibility to work precious metals in a fun, free way.

Karin’s aesthetic is a mixture of geometric and organic. Having grown up in the concrete high-rises of Downtown Boston, when she started getting out into nature, she developed an almost child-like wonder for the forms and characters she saw there — a branch that seemed to reach forth, a single leaf uniquely different from hundreds of others around it.

While some pieces simply celebrate nature’s characteristics, others incorporate symbols, such as boats and staffs, to create a subtle poetic narrative. Well versed in traditional and contemporary techniques, Karin uses a variety of methods from nature casting and keum-boo, to forging and photo-etching. You can note her love of the process in the details, such as textures and surface treatments.

Karin holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She also studied metals at San Diego State University and The Museum School in Boston. She exhibits her work nationally and has won several awards. Karin sells her work at top fine-art shows, art galleries, and by appointment at her Laguna Beach, CA, studio.
